Hey there everyone, it’s Halloween 2019 and I am doing a 5-night special of horror themed gaming, and first off is Red Barrel’s Outlast II on PlayStation 4. This is my first time playing the game, so expect some on the spot reactions to what is sure to be a creepy and jump scare-filled time if my experience of the original game is anything to go by. Outlast II ends up taking place over 3 nights, so this is Part 3 of 3 of this particular game.
This is the third night of my Halloween 2019 celebrations and I return to the world of Outlast II to finish my search of Lynn who is held captive in the mines by Val, leader of the Heretics who stand in opposition to the religious cult of Temple Gate. This game reaches it’s completely insane climax and I end up left with possibly more questions than when I started, despite getting answers to several of the questions raised throughout the game.
THEN I move onto my second game, Little Nightmares, the cute but creepy puzzle platformer game that felt like a fun little twist for my Halloween special. I end up playing the entire base game as part of this stream, having not realised how short it was. But that just means I get to return to the game tomorrow with it’s DLC Secrets of the Maw…
Until next time…buh-bye!
About Outlast II
Outlast II is a first person horror game developed and published by Red Barrels and originally released in 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows systems. In this game, which is an independent sequel to 2013’s Outlast, players control cameraman Blake Langermann who becomes separated from his journalist wife Lynn following a helicopter crash in the Arizona desert as they investigate the murder of a mysterious pregnant Jane Doe. The game takes place in and around the fictional Temple Gate town, where the inhabitants are religiously devoted to a twisted form of Catholicism ruled by a man known as Papa Knoth. Will Blake be able to reunite with Lynn, escape the cult of Temple Gate, and come to terms with his recurring nightmares of childhood friend Jessica?
Outlast II plays in the same way to the first game, in which players navigate the world in a first person perspective, with no possibility of fighting through the enemies of Temple Gate. Blake’s only equipment is his camera, which he uses to document his time throughout the story and allows him to zoom in on distant objects. The camera is also equipped with a night vision mode which uses up disposable batteries, which must be found across the environment. Without fight options, the player’s only course of action when facing danger is to run away.
About Little Nightmares

Players control a hungry young girl, Six, who must make her way across a ship known as the Maw, which is under the control of strange otherworldly figures with the Lady as their leader. Other than the little pyramid-headed Nomes, everything on the Maw is out to get Six on her quest for food and search for the Lady.
