Hey there everyone and welcome to the third part of my Kingdom Hearts Final Mix playthrough where I set out with Sora on his journey to become a master of the Keyblade. This isn’t strictly my first time playing this game, having played the original game on PlayStation 2, but this is my first time properly playing the Final Mix version of the game (on the PlayStation 4 re-release of the game), which includes new abilities, scenes, enemies, and more.
In this third stream I start back off in Traverse Town, after sealing the Keyhole in Agrabah in my last stream. Taking off for my planned docking in Atlantica I find myself completely accidentally and not at all planned eaten by Pinocchio’s whale Monstro…now swimming the star ocean (I couldn’t resist namedropping another Square Enix property here). We meet back up with Riku and Sora starts to realise that his old friend may not be following a good path…but there’s worlds to save! After rescuing Pinocchio, we finally land at Atlantica, where I become a part of Ariel’s world, and she helps me in trying to lock the world’s heart whilst dealing with her strict overbearing father, King Triton. Ursula smackdown! I also get to spend some time getting to know everyone’s favourite honey-eater, Winnie the Pooh in the 100 Acre Wood.
Until next time…buh-bye!
About Kingdom Hearts/Kingdom Hearts Final Mix
Kingdom Hearts is a Japanese Action-RPG video game developed by Square Enix (when it was still known as Squaresoft) in conjunction with Disney and originally released on PlayStation 2 in 2002. The game was later re-released exclusively in Japan several months later with enhancements as Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, which was eventually released world-wide as part of the PlayStation 3 collection Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMIX (with some other releases down the road afterwards).
In Kingdom Hearts you play as Sora as he searches for his friends Riku and Kairi after his world is swallowed up by the darkness. He gains the power to use the Keyblade, a weapon used to fight said darkness, and discovers that there are many other worlds out there. He is accompanied by Disney’s very own Goofy and Donald as he travels to these worlds, based on properties from Disney’s pantheon, including Alice in Wonderland, Hercules, and Aladdin. The game is played in the third person and uses staples from both action games and RPGs, with elements of platforming, shooters, and an emphasis on exploration.
