Astro’s Playroom is a 3D platformer developed by Japan Studio’s Asobi Team division and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 5. The game, a sequel to Astro Bot Rescue Mission, is pre-installed on every console and serves additionally as a free tech demo for the new DualSense controller. The game was released on November 12th, 2020 in select territories, with a worldwide release following on November 19th, 2020.
In Astro’s Playroom, gamers control Astro, a little robot who makes his way through the core architecture of the PS5, platforming his way across each area of the game as a way of teaching people all the features the controller contains as they work their way across all of the environments, facing enemies and playing with gadgets while also finding collectibles that unlock viewable models of consoles and accessories from PlayStation’s history.
