This is a first in my streaming so far in that I’ve sort of set myself up with a challenge: following the addition via patch of 2 mysterious key items, one of which being the “Proof of Times Past” that requires players to finish the game in Critical Mode. So the challenge is me taking on my first ever Kingdom Hearts Critical Mode.
In a postscript to my Kingdom Hearts III playthrough on Critical Mode, I decide to take on the challenge of the game’s Battlegates – special challenge arenas spread across the world that give access to a series of Secret Reports adding more to the game’s lore, as well as the chance to fight the game’s super-boss. How do I fare in this final challenge to the game? All I know is that’s it for me with Kingdom Hearts III until the release of the ReMIND DLC this coming winter!

Kingdom Hearts III is a 2019 Japanese Action-RPG video game developed by Square Enix in conjunction with Disney and released on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Despite it’s title, Kingdom Hearts III is actually the ninth title in the franchise, and serves as the conclusion of the “Dark Seeker saga” that begin with the first game’s release in 2002, capping off 17 years of story.
In Kingdom Hearts III you play as Sora, a boy from the world of Destiny Islands as he embarks on his final confrontation with the villainous Master Xehanort, an evil Keyblade Master who seeks to use Kingdom Hearts to bring darkness to all of the worlds. Sora’s journey takes him across worlds inspired by Disney movies both old and new, and he is joined by his friends and familiar faces from the great pantheon of beloved Disney characters.
