What are Donations and How Does TonyKM Use Them?
As of writing this in September 2019, TonyKM is a small-time streamer of video games on Twitch with big dreams. At the moment TonyKM works 40 hours a week (usually minimum) and can only stream a few times a week in his spare time, and the required games, equipment and even online presence (such as this very website) unfortunately cost money, which he currently pays for out of his own pocket. Donations by viewers who enjoy his content can help to cover the cost of some of these expenses, and as time goes on, hopefully pay for prizes to give away. In the long run TonyKM even hopes to be able to afford to reduce the amount of hours he works so that he can spend more time streaming.
TonyKM’s early goal is currently set at £250 (roughly $315 US), which is to help cover the cost for a video capture card and either a dedicated microphone or webcam, meaning he would be able to stream games from consoles other than his PS4 (most prominently his PS3 and Nintendo Switch to start with), and improve either the video or audio of his interacting with viewers.
Why Should I Donate?
If you watch TonyKM’s streams (or other content, like his Reviews), and would like to help him improve the quality and quantity of them, then you can consider donating to his streams. You shouldn’t ever donate if you can’t afford to; as much as TonyKM appreciates the warm fuzzy feeling from knowing people like what he does, he doesn’t want people to put themselves at risk by showing that enjoyment financially. He is happy just to have an audience and a friendly follow on Twitch or his other social media.
How Do I Donate?
Donations are handled through TonyKM’s game streaming software Streamlabs. As well as allowing TonyKM to stream his video games with overlay graphics and interaction possibilities, Streamlabs also allow for easy donations through Paypal, making the process secure. Donations can be sent at any time, but if you donate during a live stream, this will be shown through a message on-screen, and TonyKM will be able to react to it.
